Thanks for visiting the Indian Film and Television Producers Council’s (IFTPC) website.

The recent times has been eventful and I believe that the time to come will follow the trend. While there are multiple challenges that the television industry has been dealing with, I am glad to be doing business in a country that has one of the largest broadcasting industries in the world and is the third largest television market.

In terms of numbers, presently there are approximately 800 satellite television channels and the television industry contributed Rs.666 Billion Revenue in 2017. In the same year, there were about 168 million television households in the country. The total subscriber base is expected to touch 187 million by 2019. The I&B ministry has been striving towards digitization and is likely to complete the phase IV by December 2016.

All indications and developments signal positive growth. The bigger picture looks promising and lucrative; however we need to streamline several issues that may hinder the projected growth.

One of the many critical issues is our working relationship with broadcasters and workers. We need to outline best practices that will help entire ecosystem to sustain and flourish in the longer run.

All our council members along with the core committee members have been meeting at regular intervals to take an account of these challenges and we have been making sincere attempts to resolve these issues to make our business environment more productive. We are confident that our efforts and persistence will help and we will be able to achieve our objectives soon.

Last but not the least; I feel proud to announce that our council members have been doing extremely well. Some of the best shows on-air are produced by our members. I close my note with best wishes to all; may you continue to innovate and excel.

Yours truly,
Jamnadas Majethia.
